I had the opportunity to participate in an online internship in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, which turned out to be a highly enriching and insightful experience. Despite the virtual format, the internship was well-structured and effectively covered a wide range of essential topics and practical aspects related to pharmaceutical biotechnology. Throughout the internship, I gained a solid understanding of laboratory essentials such as labware, equipment, reagent preparation, and sterilization techniques. I also learned about the importance of proper stock management systems like FIFO and FEFO in maintaining biopharmaceutical product integrity. The sessions helped me grasp the concepts of experimental protocol design, MSDS documentation, and the regulatory practices followed in pharmaceutical laboratories. What I found particularly valuable was learning about drug discovery and development processes, bioprocessing technologies, and the use of microbial, plant, and animal systems in biopharmaceutical production. The modules on statistical calculations, careful observation, and accurate reporting in lab experiments emphasized the significance of precision and reliability in scientific research. The detailed explanations on storage conditions, the supply chain of biopharmaceuticals, and the management of biotech labs gave me a deeper appreciation of the operational and compliance aspects of the industry. I also developed a better understanding of the use of biotechnology in small molecule drugs, protein therapeutics, and gene therapy. Overall, this internship strengthened my foundational knowledge and gave me clarity on many advanced biotechnology techniques. I sincerely thank the organizers and mentors for making this internship informative, well-organized, and relevant to current industry practices. It was a valuable addition to my academic and professional development.
